Beth M. Johnson is a knowledgeable, compassionate, pragmatic attorney who has a solid grasp on the current state of Texas family law. Because appellate law is handled mostly electronically through written briefing and electronic filing, Beth is able to handle family law matters across the state of Texas and has represented in clients in nearly all 14 of the Texas appellate courts that handle family law, as well as the Texas Supreme Court.
Beth handles family law appeals and assists trial attorneys with legal research, drafting, and strategizing. She has been practicing in this area of law almost exclusively since graduating law school. Family law includes divorce, characterization of marital property, reimbursement claims between spouses, just and right divisions of the marital estate, child custody and support, spousal support and maintenance, enforcement of property divisions, grandparent and other third-party child-custody questions, and similar issues.
Beth’s primary practice involves challenging and defending trial court judgments in the courts of appeals. While Beth typically does not handle trial work directly, she can assist your trial attorney in strategizing how to handle your case to achieve the best results and help put you in the best position possible in the event you need to appeal or if the other side chooses to appeal after the trial litigation is over.
Beth understands that being involved in litigation can be stressful and expensive and does everything reasonably possible to fully explain the process as the case progresses to ensure you understand and agree with the decisions being made. Beth will work with you and advise you as to likely outcomes that could result from various choices so you can weigh the pros and cons and make the best choices for you and your family.
